GET YOUR INSTRUMENT REPAIRED EARLY!

GET YOUR HORN REPAIRED BEFORE THE RUSH! Summer is our busiest time. When schools are closed they send us all their horns for repair. Don’t wait too long to get you horn repaired. A repair that normally takes one week, during the school year, might take two weeks, three weeks or more during the summer! Especially if the repair is a complete repad or an overhaul. Having your instrument relacquered or silver plated could take 8 to 10 weeks. GET YOUR HORN IN EARLY. At least bring your instrument to the shop for an estimate. Smaller, less involved repairs will take less time. Conversely larger, more involved repairs will require more time. For example, you bring your Yamaha Alto Sax to me one week before school starts. I look it over and see that it needs an overhaul. This involves completely disassembling the instrument, replacing all the pads and all the corks, complete regulation and adjustment.  At this time of the year I’ll tell you FOUR WEEKS before it will be repaired. So, think ahead a little.
