Student model oboes that play well and well in tune are hard to find. However, the Yamaha 211 has both of these categories covered. We disassembled it, cleaned it and shined up the silver plated keys, reassembled and regulated it. I replaced 6 of the factory felt pads with more durable cork pads. This instrument is in exceptionally good condition as is the original manufactures case. This is a great price for an oboe that is guaranteed to play perfectly.
Here is a good single French horn. It plays very well but it is cosmetically challenged. There is lacquer missing from inside the bell and outside the bell on the main bell curve. I disassembled it, chemically flushed it out, restrung & oiled all 3 rotors and lubed all slides. So, it’s clean as a whistle and ready to play. The case is in very good condition and it comes with a Yamaha #30 mouthpiece. I believe that is the original mouthpiece that came with it from the factory. Come see it and try it out.
This Bundy bass clarinet is in perfect playing condition and ready to go. I disassembled it, cleaned everything within an inch of its life, replaced all the corks and then replaced all the pads. This is what we call an overhaul. I used all white leather pads on this repad. They are more durable and longer lasting than the conventional bladder pads. So, it has been washed, oiled, adjusted and regulated. Of course, it comes in its original hard shell case, which is in very good condition, and I’ve included a Yamaha 4C mouthpiece, ligature and mouthpiece cap. Just buy your favorite reeds and start playing.
This is a great intermediate/professional oboe that is absolutely in mint condition. The body is a resin/wood composite, sometimes referred to as Greenline, that resists cracking which grenadilla wood instruments occasionally do. It has a full Conservatory System which includes a 3rd octave key, F# key tab, left-hand F, F vent key, articulated C#, alternate low C, and low Bb vent key. The keys are nickel silver that have been silver plated. Blue steel needle springs are used for better key tension and quicker response. It is padded with cork pads through the low C which combined with air-tight tone holes provides an ease of response particularly in the low register. It also comes in a sturdy, plush-lined French-style case with case cover and an outside zipper pouch on the case cover, for accessories. Brand new this oboe Lists for over $3200.00! The best sale price that I have seen is $2550.00 so, an instrument in mint condition, like this one, selling for $2000.00 is a tremendous deal.
There are two more of these “606’s” listed below and they are all very good student model trombones. This particular ‘bone is cosmetically not as nice as the others but the hand slide works great and it sounds very good. We chemically flushed it then oiled and lubed everything. Of course it comes with a King 12C mouthpiece. Such a deal!
This is a great playing flute for a beginner. The Gemeinhardt name is well known for making quality student model and professional model flutes. I just finished overhauling this silver plated horn. Overhaul? That means that the flute was disassembled, cleaned and polished. Next, I replaced all the pads and corks then completely regulated it. It comes in its original case and a tuning/cleaning rod is included. All of us, in the shop, played this horn. It really plays very well. This is the same as the one directly below.
This is a classic instrument from the turn of the last century. This is a 1902, silver plated, Besson Cornet which was made in London, England. It is in spectacular condition and recently had the valves re-plated so, the valve compression is perfect. Almost every section of the cornet is engraved. Actually, on this website go back to the Home page and scroll down a bit and you’ll see several more photos of this very instrument. These photos will show you just how elaborate the engraving really is on this beautiful horn. I have seen other Besson cornets but never one quite this old and never with this much engraving. Even the tops of the finger buttons are engraved! Also in the photo you will see an additional leadpipe and an additional tuning slide which will allow you to convert the horn so it plays in several different keys. Depending on the leadpipe and tuning slide combinations this cornet will play in Bb, A and Ab. Call 973-4299 to make an appointment to see and play this horn.
This is a really good student model/intermediate model saxophone that offers a couple of features you don’t see on strickly student model saxes. For example: it has a silver plated neck, which I think makes a tonal improvement, and it adds a high F# key, and who doesn’t always want to play higher even if it’s just by a half step. I did a complete repad on this horn meaning, it was completely disassembled, everything was washed/cleaned and then I replaced all the pads. I used the exact same metal resonator pads that originally came in it from the factory. This means that it will sound just like it did when it was new. I played it for a while and I like it. I think it plays well it tune with itself, which is good, and that means it will play well in tune with others. Come give this horn a toot or at least a look. Perfect for any student.
Need a baritone horn? Well here you go. Jupiter has been making quality brass instruments for years. This baritone horn is perfect for middle school, high school or college. I chemically flushed it out then oiled and lubed it. It comes in its original case and a mouthpiece is included. So, it’s ready to go. A very good sounding horn.
This oboe has the basic conservatory fingering system to low Bb and composition body with woodgrain finish. It also has left hand C-D trills and silver plated keys which are a bonus at this level. A sturdy hardshell case is included. Additionally, this oboe is padded with all cork pads. They are tremendously more durable than traditional felt/fishskin pads.
Plenty of King “606” trombones on this page. That’s because they are made well and play well. Just like all of our brass instruments, we have Chemically Flushed this horn, replaced the water key cork and lubed the main tuning slide. This horn comes with a Bach 6 1/2 AL mouthpiece. That is a mouthpiece that is made for beginners. Additionally, the horn comes in its original hard shell case.
Looking for a “C” trumpet….. well, I have a very good one for you. Most every trumpet you have seen is a Bb trumpet. A Bb is the standard trumpet used across the board for ceremonial bands, marching bands, big bands, rock bands, etc., etc., etc. The “C” trumpet is primarily used for orchestral work. This particular “C” trumpet is in spectacular condition. It is clean as a whistle. By the way, how clean are whistles? Amazingly clean I gather. The horn comes with 2 Amado water keys, a 1st slide trigger, a Bach 3C mouthpiece and, of course, it is in its original hard shell case. Even though it is clean as a whistle we still disassembled it and flushed it out. These trumpets sell for well over $2000.00 new so a horn in this great condition for $1050.00 is a super deal. So, get out your “classical chops” and come give this horn a toot.
This is a great student model, single French horn just like the one listed below that I recently sold. Of course, we disassembled and chemically cleaned to horn, inside an out. I re-strung the rotors and lubed all the slides. This horn plays well and is cosmetically in excellent condition. It comes with a Bach 11 mouthpiece, which looks brand new, and in its original hard shell case, which is in really good shape. New, these horns sell for over $2000.00 so, $850.00 for a horn in this condition is a super deal.
I just sold one of these flutes this past weekend. It is exactly the same model of flute and I did exactly the same work on it. So, if you see a description that looks the same as this one well, that’s because it is exactly the same.
This is a student model clarinet that is ready to play which means, I just did a complete repad on it. It was disassembled, cleaned, all new pads were installed and I completely regulated/adjusted it. It needs nothing done to it and it plays like a brand new instrument. Beware of things that you purchase from eBay, Reverb, Craigslist, etc. They rarely play as well as advertized. Come see this clarinet and give it a try or I’ll play it for you.
This is an exceptional, professional model instrument. The 642 offers outstanding intonation and tone expected from a “compensating euphonium”, which means that it can play as a Bb or an F instrument. Features large shank receiver and 4 valves (3 top + 1 side). Solid construction and space age materials combine to make the YEP-642 Series a wonderfully playing instrument. The 642 Series has a larger bell flare and large shank mouthpiece receiver to produce a gorgeous, colorful sound that stands apart from most other instruments. You will really enjoy the experience of playing this instrument. It comes with a Yamaha 51L mouthpiece, which is standard. It also comes in its original case, which is in pristine condition, as is the horn itself. The owners manual and keys to the case locks are still in the case. Frankly, it looks almost unused. Come see this instrument.
I sell a bunch of these horns because they sound good, they fit in a student’s hands well which is muy importante, they play well in tune, etc, etc, etc. I just finished repadding this sax which means, it was completely disassembled, everything was washed, then I replaced all the pads and all the corks. Next, I regulated and adjusted it, oiled all keys and mechanisms and sent it out into the real world. It comes in its original hard shell case, which is in good condition. Included with this instrument is a ligature, mouthpiece cap, a brand new mouthpiece and a neck strap. It is ready to go!
I rarely use the word “MINT” to describe the condition of a used instrument. However, this is the exact word to describe this spectacular euphonium. Both the horn and the case are without a scratch. The horn was still in the factory plastic wrapping when I first saw it. We Flushed & Lubed the horn, not that it needed it, but we always clean out an instrument before we put it up for sale. Speaking of “SALE”, this horn is on “SALE”. It was priced at $1299.00 but now it is $1149.00.
Another excellent choice for a student model, single French Horn. The layout of the horn is perfect for younger student hands. We disassembled and chemically flushed the horn. All rotors and slides have been oiled and lubed. This instrument does come with a mouthpiece. Come check it out.
These are very good playing instruments and you can’t say that about many oboes, really. This oboe plays well in tune with itself which is what you want out of any instrument. It is designed for beginning students meaning the body is made of ABS plastic but uncharacteristic of student instruments it has silver plated keys. The key work design is a modified conservatory system with trill keys for: C#-D#, F#-G#, A#-B, B-C# and right hand C-D keys. All this key work is really quite handy for a budding oboist. I disassembled it, cleaned everything, changed a few pads and a few key corks then completely adjusted it and now, it is just waiting to be played. Brand new this oboe sells for over $2600.00 so, $950.00 is a great deal for an instrument that plays like new. Come try out this great horn.
Smoother and way less bright that a trumpet is the beautiful sound of this flugelhorn. We did our standard disassemble and cleaning on this instrument. While researching this horn I found that it was made circa 1972. Even with 43 years on it I must admit that it still looks good. The original lacquer is still intact, good plating on the valves and structurally a sound instrument. It comes with a Bach 1 1/4C mouthpiece and in its original case which is in very good condition. The case is actually a double case so you can carry the flugelhorn and a trumpet simultaneously. Handy!
If it’s time for a better clarinet than the plastic one that you are playing now then this is your instrument. The Yamaha YCL-450 is Yamaha’s intermediate model clarinet which is made of grenadilla wood. Grenadilla wood is the wood used to make professional model clarinets. What I’m trying to say is, this is a really good instrument. I have had many of these YCL-450’s come through the shop over the years and I really like them. They sound good and they play very well. Here are the particulars of this horn; completely repadded meaning it was disassembled, washed and all pads and corks were changed plus it comes with a ligature, mouthpiece cap and a mouthpiece. Any band director would be proud to have you playing this horn in their band. Come give it a try.
Freshly adjusted and regulated, completely disassembled and washed, oiled and lubed…need I say more? This sax plays like a new horn and looks pretty good too. Included with this instrument is a NeoTech neck strap, a ligature, mouthpiece cap and a brand new mouthpiece. This is the perfect horn for a beginning sax student or even for someone that played in the past and wants to get back into playing again. Call me, 973-4299, make an appointment to come see it and try it out.
This is a student model trombone that will work well for any aspiring trombonist. Bach just makes brass and have been doing it well for almost a century. I did my standard chemical flush on this horn, vacuumed the case, sterilized the mouthpiece and now it’s ready to be played. A Benge 61/2AL mouthpiece, which is perfect for a beginner, comes with the horn. This trombone also comes in its original manufactures case which is great condition. See it, play it, take it.
This a great student model instrument for anyone just starting to play flute. It’s a Yamaha, which is good, and it’s silver plated, which helps with appearance plus sound quality and I just reppaded it. This all means that it plays like a brand new flute. When doing a repad the flute is completely disassembled and cleaned. It comes in its original case which is in very good condition. Come take a look at it. If you don’t play yet then I’ll play it for you.
Here we have a exceptionally nice student model flute, the Jupiter “Capital Edition 510”. The body of the instrument is nickel silver that has been silver plated and the lip plate, that’s where you blow into the flute, is gold plated. It comes in its original factory case, which is in great condition, and it comes with a tuning/cleaning rod. That’s all you need. Of course, we disassembled the instrument and completely cleaned it. Next I reassembled it and adjusted it so it plays as good as new. Brand new I’ve seen this model of flute sell for $650.00 to as much as $900.00! So, $525.00 is a very good price for an instrument in this “almost new” condition. Come by the shop and check it out.
This is a student model Yamaha alto sax that has had the main body and neck anodized. Anodizing is an electrolytic passivation process used to increase the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of metal parts. Some sax manufactures do a finish similar to this on their horns and refer to it as a matte finish or a brushed matte finish. All this simply means is that it has a cool look which is noticeably different from a standard lacquered, shiny, sax. However, the keys are still nickel plated as they originally were from the factory. I very much like the contrast between the flatter anodized finish of the body and neck and the glossier nickel plated keys. Now that we are past the aesthetics of the instrument let’s move on to the performance of the horn. I just finished completely repadding this sax. So, it was disassembled, everything washed and cleaned. Next, I replaced all the pads, all of the corks then I completely regulated and adjusted it. It plays like a new horn. I included a brand new Yamaha 4C mouthpiece, ligature, a new mouthpiece cap and a neck strap. Of course, this sax comes in its original case which is in good condition. Come see and try this unique sax.
Getzen is famous for making great brass instruments for decades and this “300” series, student model, trumpet is the continuation of that legacy. As always, I completely disassembled this horn, did a chemical flush to clean it out then oiled and lubed it. It is ready to play. Of course it comes in its original case and I have included a Bach 7C mouthpiece which was recently re-plated. Come see it or bring your up and coming trumpeter so they can give it a try.
This is a professional model tenor/bass trombone with a classic large bore symphonic design. It has a traditional “F attachment” wrap and a standard rotor design. Because of the .547 bore, it has a very open feel and is best suited for the lower parts in a jazz band as well as for symphonic playing. This is a very versatile model of trombone. A bronze brass bell comes standard on this model to offer the performer a quick response and a warmer tone. I disassembled, cleaned, reassembled, oiled, lubed and restrung the rotor. Whew! The inner slide has all its plating and is slick as greased lightin’. It also comes with a large shank mouthpiece. Brand new this horn sells for $2400.00 to $2600.00!!! A super nice horn for any player especially at this price.
The Yamaha YCL-450 is an intermediate model, grenadilla wood clarinet. Grenadilla wood is the wood used to make professional model clarinets. I have had a number of these YCL-450’s come through my shop. They sound good and they play very well. This clarinet has been completely repadded plus it comes with a ligature, mouthpiece cap, a new mouthpiece and it comes in its original case, which is in great condition. I think that these are some of the best intermedinate model clarinets on the market today. So, it’s ready to play and needs nothing done to it.
This is a Yamaha 3 valve baritone that is in good condition. I disassembled it, did a chemical flush, replaced the water key cork & valve felts then oiled and lubed everything. It comes in its original case, which is in good condition, and with an EZ-Tone mouthpiece, which has been cleaned and disinfected. So, it looks good and sounds great plus, how often do you see these for sale especially at this price. Come try it.
Here is a classic trombone that any trombonist would love to have. A 1950 King 2B “Liberty” with all original lacquer and in the original brown alligator case. The horn and case are both in great condition. Come try this horn!
This King baritone was made circa 1970 and it is in great condition. It is a 3 valve, 5 slide horn that comes with the original King mouthpiece and in its original faux alligator skin case, which both are in great shape. Oh yea, it also comes with the key to lock the case lock! Needless to say someone has taken care of this instrument. We disassembled, cleaned, reassembled, changed all felts and corks then oiled and lubed it. It plays very well. This is a classic horn that should be played, it needs to be played, it wants to be played, it must be played!
This is a great intermediate model/step-up model flute for an aspiring professional flutist. If you are currently playing on a student model instrument then this “YFL-385” would be a significant improvement. The head joint is solid silver, the body and foot joint are nickel silver that are silver plated. Obviously it is an open hole flute with an in-line G key and the foot joint has a low B key. Beware: some of these models come with only a C foot joint so don’t be fooled. These are all features of a better model instrument. I just finished doing a complete overhaul on this flute meaning, it was disassembled, cleaned, buffed and then all the corks and all the pads were changed. For you this means that it plays as good as when it was brand new. It comes in its original French style, hard shell case with a leather case cover. Come by the shop and give it a try. Call 434-973-4299 for an appointment.
This is a professional model saxophone for sure! First, the body has a black, nickel finish and the keys are silver plated which makes for a visually appealing horn. Second, “Stone Series” means that all the spots where you physically touch the instrument are adorned with semi-precious stones. Besides being cosmetically nice the stone accents actually change the way the sax resonates. Third, the body of the horn is triple annealed which also makes the sax more resonate. Plus, there are double arms on the low C, B & Bb keys for greater key cup stability, a larger diameter bell rim for greater sound projection and more. Call me or come see this sax and I can give you all the other details and features of this outstanding instrument. This sax also comes with two necks 1)the black nickel original neck and 2) the silver plated Fat Neck which does have a noticably bigger sound. As always, we disassembled the sax and completely cleaned it, reassembled and adjusted it. It looks great and plays like a brand new horn. Come see it, come try it, come buy it!
If you are looking for a trumpet for your beginning student to play, this is it. The Yamaha 200AD is specifically designed for beginners. This horn is very near mint condition if not truely in mint condition. We disassembled it, flushed it out, reassembled it then oiled and lubed it. It looks and plays like a new instrument. A brand new one of these trumpets is running around $1200.00! So, $450.00 for a trumpet in this great condition is a super deal. Come see it, come try it, come buy it!
This is a professional model instrument which some consider to be the “gold standard” of clarinets. This particular R-13 was made in 1974 which was a very good year. Why? These clarinets are all made of grenadilla wood. In my opinion, newer clarinets of this caliber do not let the grenadilla wood season, or dry out, enough before thay use it to make an instrument. This is a problem because the wood has a tendancy to split, mainly in the upper joint. However, the grenadilla wood that this horn was made from was well seasoned. Plus, after 43 years of being played, if the wood hasn’t split yet……it isn’t going to split. On top of that the wood has been taken care of quite nicely. The clarinet was just recently repadded with Valentino synthetic pads, which are very durable, and it plays great. If it’s time for you to move up from your student model clarinet then this could be your new instrument. Of course it does come in its original case and with the original Buffet mouthpiece.
If you have been playing a student model sax for years and are ready to move up to a better horn……. here’s the perfect sax. This is marketed as an intermediate model horn however it has been endowed with some features from the Yamaha “Pro-series” horns. The neck that comes with this horn is a “62 style” neck that originally came with the YAS-62 Pro-model altos. These necks have been annealed to improve the sound. Annealing is a process of heating and cooling the metal to soften it and make it less brittle. This lets the metal vibrate more evenly and freely. On top of that, this horn can also be used with the necks from the Custom Z & Custom EX” Pro-series” saxes. These are even better necks than the “62 style”, even though the 62’s are excellent necks. In other words, you have options with this horn. On most saxes the neck that comes with the horn is it! No other options. After playing sax for 45 years, I can tell you that a better quality neck can completely change the way your horn plays.
This alto could easily pass as a brand new instrument. Included with the horn is a Yamaha 5C mouthpiece, ligature & MP cap. The case is original and in like new condition. It also comes with a shoulder strap and dual backpack straps. Again, you have options on how you would like to carry your horn. New, these horns list for $3200.00 and regularly sell for over $2300.00 so, a sax that looks this good, plays this good and you can see it before you buy it is a super deal.
This is a great step-up from your student model trombone. The YSL-446G is considered an intermediate horn that has several professional model features. For example, it has a lazer-fused pluzuma welded bell which means the bell resonates as if it were seamless. That translates to it’s a better sounding horn. It has an “F” attachment. The hand slide is a newer design that provides better air-tightness and smoother movement even in 6th & 7th positions. The bore diameter is .525 and it has an 8.5″ bell. As always, the horn has been cleaned out completely and is ready to play. New, this horn lists for over $2300.00. Big Box stores are selling it for over $1800.00 so, a horn of this quality for $1300.00 is a deal. Come by the shop and take a peek at it.
A “6D” is a great choice for an entry level double horn or if you’re looking for a second horn, just in case you accidentally leave your good horn in Kalamazoo after a gig. This horn is from the late 60’s/early 70’s. It has been oiled and lubed within an inch of its life. All rotors and all slides move freely. The horn is structurally sound meaning no dents, no loose braces and it blows freely & sounds good.
This is an intermediate model flute which is an upgraded model from your student/beginning model flute. The “”YFL-461” is exactly the same as the “YFL-481”, meaning it is solid, sterling silver, as a matter of fact, it is 92.5% pure sterling silver. You get a much better sound with a silver instrument. It has open-hole keys, a low B foot joint with a gizmo key and here is the only difference, it has “offset G keys”instead of “in-line G keys”. Some players prefer “offset G keys”. If you need clarification just call me. These are all features of a good quality flute. It comes in a French style, hard shell case. Way professional! Come try it and see what you think.
This “model 37 Strad” is a Pro model instrument. While doing research on this horn I see that it was made between 1975 and 1980. The serial number suggests, more specifically, 1977 – 1978. When I received it there was some slight damage to the bell so, I smoothed out the creases and it looks very good. I did a chemical flush, replaced all the valve felts, the water key cork then oiled and lubed it. A Bach 3C mouthpiece is included and it comes in its original brown case with alligator trim. Hey, the key for the case locks is still in the case! It plays very well so come give it a try and see what you think.
This is a vey good student model clarinet. It is actually a special edition clarinet made by Jupiter and the “CEC” stands for Capital Edition Clarinet. Probably more than you wanted to know but, there you go! I just finished doing a complete repad on this instrument which means it was disassembled, washed, all new pads were installed then it was completely adjusted and regulated. For you this means that it plays like a brand new clarinet. I have also included a new Selmer Goldentone mouthpiece with it. So, it’s ready to go.
This is a very good double French horn and everything about it is in great shape. I disassembled it and did a chemical flush which means that it is as clean, inside and out, as when it was new. I restrung and oiled the rotors, lubed all the slides and raised some minor dents. A Farkas model mouthpiece, not too shabby, is included. The horn comes in its original case which is in great condition. Come see it, come play it and I think you’ll be impressed with the sound quality, playability and appearance of this instrument.
If you are looking for your first clarinet this “YCL-250” is a great one to start on. Easy to blow, fits in a students hands well (that’s important) and sounds good. It has all its original synthetic pads which will last for a good long time. Another reason I really like these horns is…….. let’s say your student continues to play clarinet into high school and you eventually buy them a more professional instrument, meaning a wooden clarinet, to use in the symphonic band or orchestra or whatever well, hold on to this “YCL-250”. It would be perfect for marching band because it is made of ABS plastic and has synthetic pads which are not affected by cold weather and rain. That kind of weather would be disastrous for a wooden clarinet. Thinking about the future is a wonderful thing, right?
These “TR-300’s” are really good student model trumpet. It has been disassembled, chemically flushed, valve felts changed then everything that needs to be oiled & lubed was oiled and lubed. It plays well, sounds good, and it has good plating on the valves which means the valves will work smoothly for a long time. I have also included a Bach 7C mouthpiece which is perfect for a beginner. It is truly a clean, mean playing machine.
This is the perfect student model tenor sax for a beginning student. Any band director will approve of your child playing this horn. Across the board, this is a very good sax meaning; it plays well in tune, it has a good sound, it is well made, parts are available and will be available for a long time and the horn fits well in a students hands, which is very important. This horn was completely disassembled and cleaned thoroughly. Next, I changed all the pads and completely regulated all of the keys which means that it plays like a new horn. Included with this sax is a mouthpiece, ligature, mouthpiece cap and a NeoTech neck strap. Get some reeds and you’ll be ready to go. Come see it and try it.
This is a student model trombone that will work well for any beginning trombonist. King has been making brass instruments for a very long time and they do it well. I did my standard chemical flush on this horn, vacuumed the case, sterilized the mouthpiece and now it’s ready to be played. A Bach 12C mouthpiece, which is perfect for a beginner, comes with the horn. This trombone also comes in its original manufactures case which is great condition. Come try it out.
This is exactly like the next one down the page….same model, I did the same work to it. Yamaha makes outstanding flutes and this “YFL-481II” is no exception. It is a fine intermediate model flute that outclasses the student model flute that you are playing now. It is solid, sterling silver, as a matter of fact, it is 92.5% pure sterling silver. You get a much better sound with a silver instrument. It is open-hole with in-line G keys and a low B foot joint with a gizmo key. These are all features of a good quality flute. I just finished completely overhauling this flute and it plays like it is brand new. The case that it comes with offers storage space for a cleaning cloth or other additional gear. Come try this “481” and I think you’ll be surprised how much better a flute can sound.
This is a great Bb clarinet for you or your child to start playing. I completely regulated this instrument and played it to make sure that it’s ready for you to play. I have included a brand new Selmer Goldentone mouthpiece with this instrument plus a Rovner ligature and mouthpiece cap. The ligature and mouthpiece cap are a nice upgrade from the factory ones. The new model of this clarinet is selling for just under $1000.00 so $425.00 for an instrument that plays perfectly is a super deal. Come look at it.
This is a student model trumpet which is what you want for a beginning student. As always, we disassembled, chemically cleaned, reassembled then oiled and lubed everything that needs oiling and lubing. It plays like it is a brand new horn. Cosmetically it is a bit challenged meaning the lacquer is not 100% but, not so bad. So, if you’re looking to save a couple of bucks and still get a great playing instrument then this is the trumpet for you. Included with this horn is a freshly re-plated Yamaha mouthpiece plus it comes in it’s original hard shell case which is in good condition.
This is a very good looking and good sounding trombone. On top of that it is specifically made for beginning players and highly recommended by band directors. I don’t think this horn was used very much consequently it looks almost as good as a new horn. I disassembled it and completely cleaned it. I have also included a freshly re-plated Yamaha “48” mouthpiece with it. This is the same mouthpiece that would have come with this horn from the factory and is perfect for a beginning trombonist. Plus it comes in its original case which is it great condition. So, considering that this trombone normally sells for over $1200.00 brand new, $400.00 for this instrument is a very good deal. Come see it and give it a try.

I just finished completely overhauling this flute and it plays like it is brand new. The case that it comes with offers storage space for a cleaning cloth or other additional gear. Come try this “481” and I think you’ll be surprised how much better a flute can sound.
This is a “mint” intermediate model tenor saxophone that plays very well. I cannot find a scratch on it. This model, the “YTS-475” was recently updated to the “YTS-480”. Why you ask? Who knows! I do know that these horns are identical except the model number. Both are made of yellow brass, with gold baked epoxy lacquer, both have stainless steel springs, both have annealed necks, etc., etc., etc. Right down the line, all the same features and specifications. I think they just wanted a reason to change the model number. New, the “YTS-480” has a list price over $3500.00 but one could be found for around $2800.00. So, a used “YTS-475”, that plays like a new horn, for $1800.00 is a great deal. As always, the sax was cleaned and completely regulated which means that it plays as good as a new horn. It comes in its original Yamaha case, which is in excellent condition, plus I have included a metal mouthpiece cap, ligature, a brand new Yamaha 4C mouthpiece and a neck strap. Get some reeds and you are ready to go. Come try this excellent sax.
This Yamaha CL1 clarinet is the cousin of the YCL250. They’re the same horn with just a different model designation. Anyway, it’s a great instrument for beginning students. It has all synthetic pads which means they tolerate moisture better that regular pads. Of course, we disassembled it, cleaned it and regulated it so it plays like a brand new clarinet. It comes with a Yamaha 4C mouthpiece which has been sterilized.
Considered one of the best, if not the best, saxophone ever made, this 1964 Selmer “Mark VI” alto is truly a great sounding/playing horn. I did a little work on it and then played it for the next 30 minutes. It is a joy to play! I own 3 Selmer saxes myself; a 1928 Selmer Soprano, a 1959 Selmer Mark VI alto and a 1963 Selmer Mark VI tenor. My 1959 Mark VI alto is also a tremendous horn otherwise I would keep this 1964 for myself. Ok, all you music majors or potential music majors that play sax should come give this sax a try. Smokin’!
These are great student model trombones. Of course, I have completely flushed out the horn, aligned the hand slide and lubed the main tuning slide so it operates like a brand new horn. I have also included a #48 Yamaha mouthpiece that was just re-plated. Essentially it is a new mouthpiece, just like the one that comes with it from the factory. Call me at 973-4299 to setup an appointment so you can see this instrument.
Ok, if you are ready to get rid of your student model horn and move up to something dramatically better then this great intermediate model flute is for you. It is solid, sterling silver, actually, it is 92.5% pure sterling silver. It is open-hole, in-line G keys and a low B foot joint with a gizmo key. These are all features of a good quality flute. The flute was completely disassembled, cleaned and adjusted. It plays like a brand new instrument. It comes in a French style, hard shell case with a case cover (I neglected to put the case cover in the photo). Muy professional! Come try it and see what you think.
This is a student model trumpet which is what you want for a beginning student. As always, we disassembled, chemically cleaned, reassembled then oiled and lubed everything that needs oiling and lubing. It plays like it is a brand new horn and cosmetically it is in very good condition. Included with this horn is a Yamaha 11B4 mouthpiece, which is what you want for a beginner, plus it comes in it’s original hard shell case which is in good condition.
The “1400” is a plastic, student model clarinet. This is a perfect instrument for a beginning player regardless of their age. I just finished overhauling this clarinet meaning, it was disassembled, completely washed all the pads and corks were replaced. In other words, it plays like a brand new instrument. Plus, I have put it in a brand new case which can be carried or worn as a backpack. Come give it a try.
This is a super-clean student model trombone that plays very well. It appears to me that the horn was rarely used. Besides our standard chemical flush I lightly tweaked the hand slide alignment. I also included a UMI 12C mouthpiece. This is a great deal for $350!
Hey, marching season is coming soon, all you flutists, and you will need a piccolo. This piccolo plays great and is ready for you. It was disassembled, cleaned, reassembled and regulated meaning it is a lean, mean music making machine! Come try it.
This “TR-300” is a silver plated, student model trumpet that is in exceptionally good condition. I disassembled it, chemically cleaned it, replaced all the water key corks and valve felts then oiled and lubed everything that needs oiling and lubing. In other words, it looks and plays like a new horn. It comes in its original case, which is in great condition, and I have included a Yamaha 11B4 mouthpiece. The 11B4 is Yamaha’s equivalent to a Bach 7C mouthpiece. Either one is perfect for a beginning trumpet player. Come try out this horn.
This is an intermediate model tenor saxophone that plays very well. This model, the “YTS-475” was recently updated to the “YTS-480”. Why you ask? Good question. These horns are identical except the model number. Both are made of yellow brass, with gold baked epoxy lacquer, both have stainless steel springs, both have annealed necks, etc., etc., etc. Right down the line, all the same features and specifications. I think they just wanted a reason to change the model number. New, the “YTS-480” has a list price over $3500.00 but one could be found for $2800.00 – $3000.00. So, a used “YTS-475”, that plays like a new horn, for $1600.00 is a great deal. As always, I disassembled the sax, chemically cleaned it, changed a few pads and completely regulated it which means that it plays as good as a new horn. It comes in its original Yamaha case, which is in very good condition, plus I have included a mouthpiece cap, ligature, a brand new Yamaha 4C mouthpiece and a Neotech neck strap. Get some reeds and you are ready to go. Come try this excellent sax.
This is a 1968 Selmer Mark VI Tenor! Nothing else is quite like a Mark VI. The serial number is #M158***. It is all original lacquer. Considering that it is a 43 year old horn, the lacquer is in great shape. I just repadded it on 6/1/11 using Roo pads with original style Selmer resonators. I like the way this horn plays! I’ve consistently seen horns of this era sell for $7000.00 or more. This Mark VI comes in its original hard shell case with keys for the case latch locks. Come by the shop and try this saxophone. It was priced at $6595.00. Now it is on sale for $5400.00!
Super nice, super clean trombone. This is Yamaha’s student model T-bone. Of course, we cleaned it within an inch of its life. It’s now probably as clean as the day it was made. The slide has been properly aligned. It is simply in great shape. Also, a Bach 6 1/2 AL mouthpiece is included. That is the mouthpiece that you definitely want a student to use as a beginner.
Weissman has been around for over 35 years making flutes and piccolos and also selling flutes and piccolos of other brands. This is a great pro-model piccolo that was made around 1988 and it plays really well. The head joint and body are grenadilla wood and the keys are silver. This is a great choice for your first piccolo or a definite upgrade if you are thinking about movin’ on up from your student model pic. Come by the shop to see it and play it.
This is an exceptional intermediate/professional model horn. I say that because during my research on this trumpet many pundits are comparing it to Bach Stradivarius trumpets which are “pro” instruments. It has a very full, rich sound and looks virtually new. On top of that this horn has been “pimped out” and I really mean that. The previous owner upgraded the horn with a kit offered by Getzen. It is a 700S-GTK outfit that retails for $250.00. This kit includes three 24 karat gold finger buttons, three 24 karat gold valve top caps and three 24 karat gold valve bottom caps. So, now that we have established that this is both a great sounding and great looking horn let’s move on, shall we? Of course, we disassembled it, chemically flushed, oiled & lubed it so it’s as clean as when it was brand new. Come see it, come try it. I think you’ll like it.
Great student model clarinet for any beginner of any age. This “YCL-250″comes with synthetic pads which means that the pads will last longer than regular felt pads. Of course, the clarinet was disassembled and cleaned severely. I reassembled it, adjusted everything and oiled all the keys so, it’s ready to be played. It comes in its original hard shell case and a Yamaha 4C mouthpiece. Come see it, come try it.
Here we have a fine, vintage horn. A Leblanc “LL”, also referred to as a “Double L”. This particular instrument was made in 1967 and at the time it was one of Leblanc’s top of the line clarinets. Back in the day famed clarinetists Buddy De Franco and Pete Fountain played this model of clarinet. In other words, it is a world class horn. So, if you have a student that is ready to move up from their plastic, beginning horn then this could be the “ONE” you seek. I completely overhauled the “LL” and replaced the case. The case has plenty of storage room for reeds, oils, etc., and it can be worn like a backpack. Cool, aye? Have your budding clarinetist come try this great clarinet.
This alto flute, yes I said alto flute, was made circa 1973. I disassembled it and did a complete repad, which means the body and all the keys were chemically cleaned then all the pads and corks were replaced. It has been completely regulated and adjusted so it plays like a brand new instrument. Frankly, it looks like a new flute. Come check it out.
If you are looking for a super baritone sax then you have found it. The “YBS-52” is sought after by players and band directors for its sound quality, durability and outstanding intonation. I played a “YBS-52” for 12 years while I was touring with Big Ray & the Kool Kats. And considering it is a bari sax, which is huge and normally takes a lot of lung power to play, it is amazingly free blowing. So, it’s ready to play right now. I have included a Yamaha 5C mouthpiece, mouthpiece cap & ligature and a Neotech Soft Harness. On top of that the horn comes in a ProTec case which is tremendously lighter than the original hard shell case. Just to give you a reference point on pricing for these horns; List price is $8306.00. Sale price at most Big Box stores is $5471.00. So, $3850.00 is a great price for a sax that plays like new. Come try it out.
This is a classic trumpet from 1932. The Conn “40B” is also referred to as the Conn “Connqueror”, get it, Conn-queror. For an 84 year old trumpet this horn is in great shape both inside and out. It is gold plated and the bell is covered with incredibly intricate engraving. The engraving even includes the God Pan sitting and playing his Pan pipes. Go to my home page on this site and scroll down to see a couple of close up photos of this horn. The valve casings are decagons, yes 10 sided valve casings. The valves themselves are round but the valve casings are decagons. I chemically flushed it out and changed all the felts and corks so, it is clean as a whistle and plays great.
This flute plays great, sounds great and is mechanically solid. I think that pretty much covers all the bases. It is a silver plated student model instrument. I cleaned it, repadded it and am ready to set it free. I have included a tuning/cleaning rod. The case is the original Yamaha case which is in really good condition. Get ready to pick it up and play.
Continuing the Bach Stradivarius legend is this “model 43” trumpet which was made circa 2003. Incredibly clean, plays really well, looks great and has great valve compression. This means the air you blow into it gets used as efficiently as possible, which is what you the horn to do. This trumpet comes with its original hard shell case, in great condition, and a Bach Megatone 3C mouthpiece, which separately sells for $100.00. The horn was disassembled, chemically flushed, oiled & lubed. It’s ready to be played.
The Buffet company has been making beginning, intermediate and professional model clarinets for decades. This E-11 is an intermediate model clarinet. It is a step-up from your beginning model instrument. What does that mean? Well, it means it is not a plastic horn, it is made from grenadilla wood. Wood clarinets have a better sound than plastic clarinets. Plus, the E-11 keys are silver plated not nickel plated like a student horn. Of course, we did a complete repad on this clarinet which means that it will play like a new horn. Included is a Vandoren mouthpiece and a Bonade ligature which are both upgrades from the stock MP and ligature. If you have been playing for more that a year and are looking for a better clarinet, this might just be the horn that you need.
Move up from your student model clarinet to a tremendous clarinet. The Yamaha YCL-450 is Yamaha’s intermediate model, grenadilla wood clarinet. Grenadilla wood is the wood used to make professional model clarinets. What I’m trying to say is, This is a really good clarinet. I have had many of these YCL-450’s come through the shop. I like them. They sound good and they play very well. Here are the particulars of this horn; completely repadded, ligature, mouthpiece cap and a new mouthpiece. Any band director would be proud to have you playing this horn in their band. Come give it a try.
Here is a super nice 4 valve, silver plated flugelhorn. It comes with a Bach 3CFL mouthpiece and a double case meaning, besides carrying the flugelhorn the case can also hold a trumpet. Nice! We just flushed, oiled & lubed it from one end to the other. The best thing to do is come try this horn. You will want it to be your very own.
This is a student model flute that is in great condition. I cleaned it up and did some very minor regulation and adjustment. It comes in its original case and it also comes with a case cover which is out of the ordinary for most student model flutes. This YFL-221 is a perfect choice for any beginning student. Come see it and try it.

The Buffet R-13 is a great professional model clarinet that has been used all over the world for years. This R-13 was made in early 1995 and is in excellent condition. The grenadilla wood body is perfect meaning it has no cracks and the keys are all German silver. I have completely repadded, disassembled and cleaned it within an inch of its life. Of course, it comes in its original hard shell case. The clarinet has a beautiful sound and plays freely. I know that’s what I want from an instrument of this caliber. Come see it, come play it and come buy it. You will be impressed with the quality and sonority of this instrument.
The Gemeinhardt 3SHB intermediate flute offers the resonance and tone quality of a solid sterling silver headjoint combined with the French key mechanism (open hole keys). This is the flute you want if your student is moving up from a beginning instrument and into an intermediate instrument. I completely repadded this flute so it plays like a new horn. Part of the repadding process is the flute is completely disassembled and cleaned. All pads and corks are replaced and it is completely regulated and adjusted. Brand new this flute lists for $1500.00 and is commonly sold for around $1100.00. So, $850.00 for a newly repadded flute of this caliber is a great deal. Come try it out and see what you think.
This is a great intermediate model, step up from your student model, flute. One change from a student model instrument is this one is solid silver. To you this equates to a better sounding flute. Other features are; open hole keys, in-line G keys, low B foot joint with gizmo key and gold plated lip plate. These are features you see on better flutes meaning intermediate or professional instruments. I did a complete overhaul which means the instrument was disassembled, everything cleaned, all pads and corks were replaced. It plays as well as it did when it was new. A very nice looking horn plus it comes with a French style case and a case cover.

This is a professional model flute that is considered Semi Handmade and I just finished completely repadding it. The headjoint, lip plate, body & footjoint are 92.5 % pure sterling silver which provides a rich, warm well-defined tone. The keys are made of nickel silver and then they are silver-plated. All of the key springs are made of white gold for a light touch and optimum response. Of course, it has a traditional open-hole configuration and key design, referencing the pointed arms on the key cups. The low B on the footjoint has a gizmo key which provides an easy and accurate fingering to facilitate high C. Consequently, this is one of the best flutes that I’ve had in my shop. You have to play this flute to truly appreciate it.
